Video Editing Apps, a review,

Today we here at Tech Weenie Inc. are going to try something a little different. We are going to write a serious comparative review of competing video production apps. We use several, and all have some wonderful features. All affordable, relatively speaking, and all useful, difficult, and fantastic, in their own way.

1) Cute Cut, by YU BO is first on the list, because it was the first full featured editor we bought. This is a monster app. It has so many features it would be futile to try to detail them. So, here is a short list of our favorites.

  • Drag and drop editing,
  • Gesture control editing. This is a genius feature. Video too long, just squeeze it, viola.
  • The app accepts 6 types of media. Blending them together is as easy or advanced as you want.
  • And one of our most cherished, a video in video box.
At $5.99 for the full app it is a steal!

2) iMovie from Apple is a fantastic video production device. It has several built in features that are unique to the app. It has 8 themes that add dash to any home video. And features that are appealing and unique, among the greatest are;

  • Again, the ability to add a video in a video is a great feature,
  • More drag and drop editing.
  • Multiple media types.
  • 14 Pre-programmed movie trailers that you can customize is so much fun, but it is work, so map out a good chunk of time. If you plan well it will be worth every second, if not you will get what you put into it. "People don't plan to fail, they fail to plan."*
At $4.99 it is a great deal. Free with my iPhone, and maybe yours if you get a new one.

3) VivaVideo by QuVideo is the most fun of all. It is not as robust with technical features, but it adds a whole new world to video editing. With fun themes, and options, that make everything look happy. There are times that just need something to make it sizzle and this app probably has it.

  • A dizzying array of themes that have a level of customization that is almost unbelievable.
  • Stickers and text, and transitions that rival anything in an app.
  • Multi Music ability (ok I still haven't figured that one out yet. But, when I do look out.)
For only $2.99 this one is too good to pass up.

There are plenty of video editing apps, and we love them all. But, right now these are our favorites. They all allow a musical soundtrack, and easy uploading. We are planning a video montage of moments assembled in each app. Maybe this weekend, now you have something to live for.

If you have one you love not listed here, tell us, we would love to "kick the tires" we are always looking for something new, and exciting.
