Happy Birthday Dear Amazon

Well if you want to feel a little old like I do today, all you have to do is wonder what you were doing 20 years ago today. I know one thing I wasn't doing 20 years ago today was thinking about Amazon.Com but someone was. This is officially the 20th birthday of the website that completely changed the way we shop, and it is still my favorite place to go and get stuff.

You don't need me to tell you everything that Amazon.Com offers, but for those of you who weren't bouncing around the internet 20 years ago, Amazon.Com was originally a book seller exclusively. Nobody really took them seriously, but they have put most large book stores out of business by now. It all started today when they sold the very first book "Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies" by Douglas R. Hofstadter who will also go down in history. Later on Amazon evolved like most book sellers do, into music and movies, then of course into absolutely everything.

Even if you don't feel love for this 20 year old company lets just take a moment to think of all the things Amazon brought to us all. One Click Ordering, Prime Ordering, E-Books and of course all of the gadgets that go along with it all. Yes I understand that there are a lot of people out there that miss the trip to their local book store, but the landscape of writing has grown immeasurably despite the lack of places to get your books. You still have to love all the ways you can get them now.

Here's to another 20 years Amazon, never change. Wait! Change is good!
